Privacy policy
Last updated: 3 July 2026
The short version: your wedding page and everything on it belong to you. We collect only what the service needs to work, we don't sell or share anything, there's no advertising, and you can delete everything — permanently — at any time.
Who we are
KnotSnap is a wedding photo-sharing and RSVP service. When we say "we", we mean the operator of KnotSnap; when we say "the couple", we mean the account holder who created a wedding page; and "guests" are the people who visit that page. For anything in this policy, you can reach us at hello@knotsnap.com.
What we collect, and why
If you create an account (the couple)
- Your name, email address, and password. The password is stored hashed — we never see or store it in readable form.
- Everything you put on your wedding page — names, date, venue, schedule, photos, and so on. You choose what to add and it's only ever shown to people who have your link.
If you're a guest
- RSVP details you choose to give: your name and attendance, and optionally an email address, phone number, plus-one name, and dietary notes. These are shown only to the couple.
- Photos, videos, and messages you share. These appear on the couple's private page (and its slideshow and gallery) for other guests with the link to see. The couple can review, hide, or delete anything you share.
Technical bits (everyone)
- Cookies we set: a session cookie and a security (CSRF) cookie needed for the
site to function, and — for guests — a
guest_tokencookie that lasts up to one year so we can recognise you if you come back to update your RSVP or share more photos. That's the full list. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. - Anonymous usage statistics. We use a privacy-first analytics tool (Plausible) that counts page visits without cookies, without fingerprinting, and without storing personal data or IP addresses.
- Server logs kept briefly for security and debugging.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your data — to anyone, ever.
- We never use your photos for anything except showing them on the page they were shared to.
- We never run ads or share data with advertisers.
- We never make wedding pages public: links are long and unguessable, blocked from search engines, and shown only to people the couple shares them with.
Who can see what
- Anyone with the wedding link can see the wedding page, the shared photo wall, and guest messages. Treat the link like an invitation — the couple decides who gets it.
- Only the couple can see RSVP details (including dietary notes), the guest list, and moderation tools.
- Our hosting provider stores the data on our behalf, like any website's does.
- If you choose to order a printed keepsake, the photo(s)/text on that item plus your delivery and contact details are shared with our print and payment partners to fulfil it — see "If you order prints" below. This only happens when you place an order.
If you order prints
Printed keepsakes (like a QR display card) are an optional paid extra. Ordering one shares a small, specific set of data with two partners, and only at the moment you order:
- Prodigi — our print-fulfilment partner. When you order, we send them the finished print image(s) and your shipping name and address so they can print and post your item white-label. Print files are transient and deleted after production.
- PayPal — handles the payment. Card details go straight to PayPal and never touch KnotSnap's servers; we only receive confirmation that payment succeeded.
This is opt-in and only ever happens for paid print orders — everything else in this policy still stands: we never sell or rent data, we never share it with advertisers, and wedding galleries stay private and unindexed.
How long we keep things
For as long as the couple keeps their page. The couple can delete individual photos, messages, or guests at any time from their dashboard. Deleting the account permanently removes the wedding pages and every photo, message, and RSVP on them — there is no undo and no retention copy beyond short-lived backups, which expire automatically.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data-protection law (GDPR) you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Guests can also simply ask the couple — they can remove any photo, message, or RSVP themselves in seconds. For anything else, email hello@knotsnap.com and we'll sort it out; you also have the right to complain to the ICO (UK) or your local data-protection authority.
Children
KnotSnap accounts are for adults. Photos of children shared by guests are the responsibility of the sharing guest and the couple, who can remove them at any time.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page and update the date at the top. We won't quietly reduce your protections.
